The design comes from Christoph Daim, a renowned knife maker and member of the German Knife Makers Guild (DMG), who looks for the unique, artistic and interesting in his knives. In collaboration with engraver Stefanie Ottilie, he has created the first prototype of the 2024 knife of the year, which has a particularly artistic touch. The design is opulent, with elaborate hand-made engravings and real gold inlays on the handle and blade. These inlays, also known as inlays, are incorporated using a complex process that has been known since the Bronze Age. The knife of the year is made of stainless RWL 34 steel, which means that the inlays can only be applied after hardening. The production of each individual knife is extremely complex and results in a limitation to only 25 pieces worldwide. The scope of delivery includes a hand-made leather sheath and a high-quality and decorative display stand.
