Balayong is a hard wood that comes from the Palawan cherry tree. It is characterized by its solid structure and dark red color.
The wood is very suitable for contact work.
The pink blossoms of the Sakara trees bloom in spring not only in Japan, but also in the Philippines, where the Palawan blossoms bloom. The Palawan cherry trees grow up to 15 meters tall and are an excellent building material that was already used for furniture during the Spanish colonial period.
The hardwood is found mainly in the region around Palawan, where there is a festival every year from March to April in honor of the extraordinary trees.
