Custom knifemaker Wes Crawford is a long-time friend of Cold Steel®, so Cold Steel® was happy to partner with him to create an affordable version of one of his expensive custom flippers . The result is the Crawford Model 1.
The blade, made of Japanese 4034 stainless steel, is closely based on the blade of Wes' original custom knife. It has a wide saber grind and a strong, sharp point with plenty of belly for cutting and slashing. It has been hollow ground and is so thin and razor sharp that it cuts with the slightest touch. And because Wes' flipper merges seamlessly into the tang, it extends in a flash!
In terms of profile and shape, the handle is very similar to Wes' original. However, here it is made of robust (yet inexpensive) glass fiber reinforced nylon with anti-slip rubber inserts and a flat pocket clip.
The blade lock offers your fingers optimal protection, because the Crawford 1 is equipped with a (patent pending) double-secured side spring lock that is extremely shock and impact resistant.
stainless steel 4034SS
A middle-class stainless steel from Japan, whose higher chromium content ensures remarkable corrosion resistance. This steel is also relatively easy to grind and has relatively good wear resistance. It is often used for kitchen knives/cutlery or for smaller knives, which are generally of good quality but are still offered at a reasonable price.
