Statutory Warranty at FIGHTWOOD
For all goods purchased from FIGHTWOOD, the statutory rights regarding defects apply. Your point of contact is FIGHTWOOD, regardless of whether we manufacture the product ourselves, ship it ourselves, or have it delivered by a shipping partner.
Wood and Rattan Sticks: Contact Training and Wear and Tear
Wood and rattan are natural materials. Our training sticks are intended for the use specified in the respective product description. During Eskrima, Kali, or Arnis training, especially when striking and blocking stick against stick, the material is subjected to immediate mechanical stress. This can result in indentations, notches, and other signs of wear appearing from the very first contact.
Our training products made of wood and rattan, including Escrima sticks, short and long sticks made of various types of wood, are consumable training items. Due to striking contact in partner training, the material naturally frays and, depending on training intensity, breaks after a few weeks or months. This is normal wear and tear and not a material defect within the meaning of the warranty.
The type and extent of wear depend in particular on the force of the strike, the angle of impact, the frequency of stress, as well as the material, hardness, weight, and diameter of the opposing stick. Care and storage also influence the service life. Repeated stress can lead to fraying, splintering, cracks, and eventually breakage. Such changes can be the result of normal, intended training wear and tear.
Normal training-related wear and tear is not a material defect and does not constitute a warranty claim. This also applies to cracks or breakage, provided they are based on normal wear and tear and not on a defect that was already present or pre-existing upon delivery. Also not covered are damages that occur only after delivery solely due to improper use, stress unsuitable for the respective product, incorrect storage, or intentional destruction. The duration of use alone does not determine this: a break after a few weeks or months is neither automatically a material defect nor automatically wear and tear. The statutory warranty is not a guarantee of indestructibility or a specific number of training sessions. The statutory rules on the burden of proof also do not establish a blanket replacement guarantee for sticks worn out during training.
Whether normal wear and tear or a material defect exists is determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the intended purpose and the statutory rules on the burden of proof. The statutory rights regarding defects remain unaffected. We do not provide any additional voluntary durability guarantee or guarantee for a specific number of training sessions for our wood and rattan sticks.
Please check every stick for visible damage before its first use. In the event of cracks, splintering, or other safety-relevant damage, it must not be used. This safety notice does not establish a limitation period for reporting defects.
How to report a complaint
Please contact us via the contact options provided in the shop. Your order number, a description of the problem, and photos will help us with our assessment. In the case of damage during training, if known, information regarding previous usage, the contact situation, and the opposing stick used is also helpful. This information supports the assessment; your statutory rights are not restricted by this.
