Lynn C. Thompson's love of Filipino martial arts (FMA) led him to develop the Luzon pocket knives in collaboration with Mike Wallace. Although various balisongs from his private collection served as inspiration, the Luzons are legal pocket knives that can be opened using a flipper. The blade of all models is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel and has been hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 57-58 HRC. It has a sharp, stable tip and just enough belly to be able to cut and slash equally well. The handle will make you long for the Philippines. It looks like a bamboo cane and to the touch, several grooves allow for a variety of comfortable grip techniques. It is made of glass fiber reinforced nylon (GFN), is weatherproof, and simply different from all handles that Cold Steel® has designed so far.
Beautiful, affordable and easy to open, the Luzon knives are an excellent choice. Plus, the blade lock provides unparalleled safety, with the knives featuring a double-locked side spring lock that is incredibly shock and impact resistant, keeping your fingers safe at all times, even in the most adverse conditions.
The Luzon is available in two sizes. Both models are equipped with a lanyard hole and a reversible pocket clip made of glass fiber reinforced nylon that is suitable for left- and right-handed users.
stainless steel 8Cr13MoV
8Cr13MoV has similar properties to AUS 8A and is a proven steel that is ideal for making work knives. In Cold Steels®' own tests, this high carbon stainless steel has proven to be tough and corrosion resistant. Like AUS 8A, it holds its edge well and is also easy to resharpen.
